Tips to Reduce the Risk of a Fall Injury

Falls are a leading cause of injury for older adults. The CDC estimates that at least 300,000 Americans over the age of 65 are hospitalized for hip fractures each year (cdc.gov).

Fortunately, these kinds of injuries are easily prevented. Let’s look at some of the steps you can take to reduce the risk of you or a loved one falling and becoming injured.

How to Reduce the Risk of a Fall

It’s a good idea to be prepared in the event a fall does occur. Keep a phone in a low, easy to reach location so you or your loved one can call for help. If you have a cell phone, always keep it on you. A personal medical alert system may also be a good choice.

Aging & In-Home Services can connect you to resources in the community that can help reduce the risk of a fall, such as home modifications or medical alert systems. If you or someone you know is in need of assistance, Just Call Us!
